San Feliciano is a charming village overlooking Lake Trasimeno that has proclaimed itself "the land of sunsets". And after all this romantic vocation is confirmed from the authoritative magazine Focus that has inserted San Feliciano among the ten best worldwide destinations where to enjoy of this timeless show.
Here it is in winter that the lake is at its best. When the sun goes down just behind the Monte Amiata, right in front of San Feliciano, the low backlight tinges the lake of a thousand delicate shades. A small fishing boat returns to the dock producing ripples that are tinged with the color of the sky, while the seagulls that have sniffed out food draw crazy flight paths around it. The silhouette of Polvese Island frames the horizon and makes the picture even more idyllic and pictorial.
I took these photos on a January afternoon, after a morning of dense fog that, after dissolving, has left an ethereal imprint of thin mist on the lake.
