belgian north sea photographs
The rhythm of the North Sea is the one marked daily by the comings and goings of the tides. When the sea retracts, slowly, inexorably, the beach stretches as far as the eye can see; pools of water remain here and there as forgotten by the retreating sea. Abstract figures, natural and imaginative textures.
If there's no wind rippling the water, these bizarre blue shapes are perfect mirrors.
When the low tide coincides with the hours of sunset then you can see galloping horses on the endless beach, black silhouettes standing out in the gold of the setting sun and perfectly coincidings with the human yearnings for freedom.
When the sea regains its loaned land, everyting is slowly, inexorably erased, and will reappear to the next episode. Intact, as a miracle, but always slightly different.
